Explore Rhodes Old Town
The Old Town of Rhodes is the one thing you simply can’t miss.
It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site, but what makes it special is that it’s not a museum — it’s still a living, breathing place where people live, work, eat and go out at night.
One of our favourite ways to visit is to start from Akandia Harbour and walk through the moat along the medieval walls. It’s surprisingly impressive and gives you a completely different perspective of the Old Town before you even step inside.
Follow the moat until just before Gate d’Amboise, then walk through the walls and you’ll find yourself right by the Grand Master Palace. From there, stroll along the Street of the Knights, and then do what we always suggest to our guests: leave the main path and dive into the small alleys.
The main street is full of shops and restaurants and doesn’t really give you the feeling of the real Old Town. The magic is in the quiet side streets where you suddenly feel like you’ve travelled back in time.
🏖️ Beaches for Every Type of Traveller
Rhodes has beaches for every type of traveller — from organised resort beaches to quiet natural spots where you can still enjoy the sea in peace.
Some beaches we often recommend are:
-
Tsambika Beach – long golden sand and shallow water, easy access and plenty of space.
-
Anthony Quinn Bay – crystal clear water and great for snorkelling.
-
Lindos Bay – spacious and great for swimming.
But if you ask us personally, our favourite is Agathi Beach.
No big beach bars, no endless rows of sunbeds — just soft sand, clear water and space to choose your own spot.
Insider tip:
If you like quieter beaches, try Limni Beach or Fourni Beach on the west coast, especially later in the afternoon.
Remember: in Greece, beaches are public — you never need to rent a sunbed to enjoy the sea.
